Job summary

A community support organization in Auckland is seeking a Community Support Worker for a fixed-term contract during school holidays. In this role, you will help create a safe and engaging environment for children with learning disabilities. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to supporting individuals and possess effective communication skills. Overview

1-2 week fixed term contract, during NZ School Holidays

$23.50 - $29.10 per hour

Auckland locations

We have sites and support options across the whole Auckland region. Our School Holiday Program is all about fun activities in a safe and positive environment. Our team of support workers ensure that all children are catered for and active participation is achieved.

Role

As a Community Support Worker in one of our School Holiday Programmes, you will work as part of a team, dedicated to creating and maintaining a safe, secure and healthy space, where children with a learning disability can spend time in the holidays. Reporting to the Programme Leader, you will facilitate meaningful activities and support children to engage in a variety of tasks.

These are fixed term contracts of a variety of shifts, covering two consecutive weeks (Monday to Friday 8:30am - 3.30pm or 4:30pm), which coincide with the school holidays.

Skills & Experience
  • Committed and passionate for supporting people with disabilities to live great lives
  • Ability to communicate effectively and supportively with your colleagues and the people you support
  • Empathy and willingness to support people with their personal cares, such as bathing, dressing and toileting
  • Excellent, clear, understandable verbal and written English is a pre-requisite to be considered for this role
The ideal candidate will have
  • The commitment to achieve a Community Support Worker Level 3 qualification
  • Experience supporting people with disabilities and/or challenging behaviours
  • Reliability, Commitment, and Passion for working with people
  • A full New Zealand driver\'s licence
  • The ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and email
