Veolia Australia & New Zealand is seeking a SCADA Automation Support Engineer to ensure reliable water and wastewater services across New Zealand. You will provide critical 24/7 support to operational assets, maintaining and optimizing SCADA systems that serve communities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree (Electrical, SCADA, or related discipline) or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience managing SCADA, telemetry and monitoring equipment.
  • Experience in water/process industry with water treatment knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of water quality and assurance monitoring programs.
  • Strong electrical design and process control expertise.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day operational support and on-call coverage for SCADA systems across all Veolia NZ facilities
  • Maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot SCADA and automation systems to ensure peak performance
  • Deliver 24/7 support to operational teams across multiple locations
  • Provide process optimization insights to drive operational excellence
  • Manage supplier and subcontractor networks for telemetry, communications, and instrumentation services
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and health & safety obligations
  • Support preventative maintenance programs and testing schedules

What you'll be responsible for
Key Responsibilities

What you'll need to be successful
Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree (Electrical, SCADA, or related discipline) OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Proven ability to manage SCADA, telemetry systems, and monitoring equipment
  • Experience in the water and/or process industry with understanding of water treatment technologies
  • Working knowledge of water quality and assurance monitoring programs
  • Strong electrical design and process control expertise
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with Datran, InTouch, GeoSCADA, Powerlink, Aspex, or Citec systems
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater operations, maintenance, and project activities
  • Understanding of water quality and resource consent compliance requirements
