GM Hair Limited is seeking an experienced salon manager to oversee daily operations and profitability of the salon, ensuring high standards of customer service, staff performance, and business growth.

The role combines strong salon management capabilities with advanced hairstyling expertise to lead, train, and mentor staff while maintaining operational efficiency and compliance. You must have New Zealand residency or a valid New Zealand work visa.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of work experience in hairdressing, hairstyling, and salon operations.
  • Proven ability to train, mentor, and develop salon staff.
  • Excellent knowledge in hair care products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the salon, including service delivery, customer satisfaction, and business performance.
  • Utilise advanced hairstyling expertise to provide technical leadership and hands-on training in cutting, colouring, styling, and client consultation techniques.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor salon staff, apprentices and hairdressers.
  • Monitor staff performance and support ongoing professional development.
  • Managing stock levels and select the suppliers and making purchase decisions
  • Set the retail price for salon products and services, as well as the membership discount.
  • Promote salon services and retail products to drive sales and customer retention.
  • Provide professional advice to clients on hairstyling, treatments, and haircare products.
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in line with IRD requirements.
  • Undertaking budgets and control operating costs to achieve profitability targets.
  • Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and maintain a safe, clean, and professional salon environment.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Reliable and able to work under pressure.
