GENERAL SUMMARY

Resource Pool (RP) Level 1 RNs are part of a team of caregivers who provide staffing support to a variety of general care units. Assigned units will be within the Level 1 RN’s skill level and could include:

General/Specialty Units:
  • Medical/Surgical Unit
  • Hematology/Oncology Unit
  • Progressive Care Unit
  • Technology Dependent Intensive Care Unit
  • Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
  • Neuroscience Unit
  • Emergency Department (Minor Care)
  • Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Level II

All Level 1 RP RNs are supported by the general care unit leadership and reports to the Resource Pool Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care.
  • Plans, provides, and monitors specific patient needs following established policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
  • Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.
  • RN certification preferred.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have an Associate’s in Nursing/Diploma in Nursing with applicable experience. BSN is preferred.
  • Successful completion of a general care pediatric nurse orientation and can independently take a patient care assignment.
  • 1 year experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and collaboratively shared leadership environment.
  • CPR, PALS training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
