Job summary

Ward A5, a busy general surgical unit at Christchurch Hospital, is seeking a Registered Nurse with a keen interest in peri-operative care and surgery. Join our large multidisciplinary team and learn from Surgeons, Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist, who guide advances in surgical care to improve outcomes.

The role covers a 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week) fixed-term position from 04/01/2027 to 11/07/2027, with shifts across a rotating roster Monday to Sunday, including mornings, afternoons

Qualifications

• Acute and elective surgical experience.
• Must be able to work all shifts - Morning, Afternoon and Nights across Monday to Sunday.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Motivated with a mature, organized and flexible approach.
• Ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.
• Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC is required.

Responsibilities

• Work with surgeons, Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist to deliver care.
• Contribute to peri-operative care and recovery in Ward A5.
• Engage in Dedicated Education Unit activities developing student nurses.
