Farmlands Co-Operative Balclutha is seeking a proactive Rural Retail Salesperson for a fixed-term, 40-hour week ending 27/03/2027. You will engage customers with strong rural knowledge and provide expert advice across a wide range of rural supplies, collaborating with colleagues and suppliers to uphold high retail standards.

The role requires flexible scheduling on a six-day roster, typically one Saturday per month, and the ability to work on your feet all day.

Thanks to well-earned internal promotion and relocation, we now have an excellent opportunity for a proactive, charismatic Rural Retail Salesperson to join our Balclutha team.

Working with a close-knit, friendly, high-performing team where everyone supports each other, teamwork and relationship-building are essential. We seek an experienced, energetic rural retail specialist with strong sector knowledge who will proactively engage every customer and deliver a genuine retail experience. This is currently a fixed-term, 40‑hour‑a‑week role ending 27/03/2027.

Bring your strong rural knowledge and expertise to the role; experience in the dairy, sheep, and beef sectors would be an advantage. You will deliver outstanding customer service and advice to our shareholders and customers in-store across a wide range of rural supplies and products, working closely with your colleagues and suppliers to uphold high retail standards in our high-performing Balclutha branch.

You will be working 8am to 5pm, 40 hours per week. However, we are asix-day-per-week store and require you to be flexible across our six-day roster, which usually equates to working approximately one Saturday per month.

We are looking for an individual with strong rural experience who is genuinely excited about the opportunity to join the Farmlands Balclutha team. You will also bring:

Strong rural knowledge and expertise across the primary sector.

A dedicated and capable retail sales professional passionate about selling while providing excellent customer advice and support.

Experience in rural retail would ensure you are set up for success.

Self-motivated, shows initiative and confidence, and is a powerful team player.

Knowledge of farming practices and seasonality is essential.

Empathy and understanding of the rural sector.

Strong computer skills and a love for learning new systems will set you up for success.

Physical fitness, being comfortable working on your feet all day and lifting and carrying stock.

Clean Full Driver Licence & Forklift licence (preferred; however, full training provided)
