Our client, a leading provider of specialist dispute resolution services, is seeking a dedicated and competent Resolution Practitioner to join its tight knit and collaborative team. This position is flexible as to location, and can be based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.

Mō tīnei tāuranga mahi | About the role

As a Resolution Practitioner, you will provide high-quality, effective, and timely dispute resolution services (including facilitation, mediation, conciliation and adjudication). You will be responsible for analysing legal documentation and correspondence, conducting case conferences, conducting hearings and conciliations, and writing decisions. Through your customer interactions you will ensure that a safe and respectful environment is maintained throughout the resolution process. Additionally, you will be responsible for proactive case management, all while staying up to date with relevant case law and legislation and maintaining technical competence across adjudication and ADR.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A Bachelor of Laws and a minimum of 3 years’ PQE
  • Experience conducting mediations (accredited by a recognised authority)
  • A firm understanding of dispute resolution, especially negotiation and facilitation
  • Experience conducting quasi-judicial hearings and writing decisions
  • An ability to manage a full caseload of reviews and/or conciliations
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and of tikanga, as relevant to the role

You will also work well under pressure, be decisive, and be able to work autonomously. You will have exceptional problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills, and you will have exemplary personal qualities including resilience, judgement, empathy, integrity and adaptability.
