OceanaGold’s Waihi operation in New Zealand is seeking an Engineer – Mining to support safe, efficient underground mining. You will deliver production and development designs, short-term planning, ventilation, and interactions with historic workings, contributing to safety, productivity, and resource recovery.

This residential role at Waihi offers an 8/6 roster, a focus on remnant mining, and the opportunity to live near the Coromandel region while supporting long-term mine life with a dedicated

Qualifications

• A recognised degree in Mining Engineering or accepted equivalent.
• Full and current driver licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
• Minimum of 2years experience in an underground mining environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Senior Engineer – Mining (Underground) and Operations teams to develop weekly and monthly mine plans.
• Develop, review and optimise designs to maximise operational efficiency and ore recovery.
• Review geological models and interpretations to reflect current understanding.
• Incorporate geotechnical recommendations and constraints into production designs.
• Monitor drill and blast outcomes and drive continuous improvement in design standards.
• Lead short-term planning and probe drilling programs for historic workings investigations.
• Prepare and maintain short-term planning schedules, including rolling two-week plans.
• Lead underground explosives management including forecasting, ordering and inventory control.
• Develop and maintain short-term ventilation plans for safe operations.
• Provide technical guidance to operations personnel and verify design compliance.
• Conduct underground inspections to verify compliance with approved designs and standards.
