Job summary

OceanaGold Corporation in Otago, NZ, is seeking a senior Drill & Blast Supervisor to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective blasting programs aligned with production targets. You will lead shutdowns, manage contractors, and work with engineering to meet mine plans while maintaining high safety standards.

The role requires 10+ years in open pit mining with explosives expertise, strong leadership, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• NZ Certified Handler Licence and Quarry Manager Certificate or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• 10+ years of open pit mining experience with drill and blast.
• Experience leading large drill and blast operations and teams.
• Strong knowledge of explosives products and current blasting practices.
• Contractor and commercial management experience.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across drill and blast operations.
• Lead incident investigations and risk assessments within drill and blast area.
• Coordinate drilling, charging, blasting and reporting per mine plan.
• Review drill and blast schedules with engineering and commit to delivery.
• Identify and implement drill and blast optimisation opportunities.
