Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato is seeking a Research Nurse to support respiratory research across clinical trials, ensuring coordination, cultural safety and adherence to Te Whatu Ora standards. The role collaborates with investigators, sponsors and multidisciplinary teams to initiate and manage studies.

Ideal candidates will have clinical or research experience, strong GCP knowledge, excellent communication, and a patient-centred approach.

Responsibilities

  • Support investigator initiated, collaborative and pharmaceutical trials, ensuring all processes required are completed in a timely manner to commence studies.
  • Prepare resources and documentation to enrol patients onto clinical trials as per the trial protocol.
  • Contribute to relationships and liaise with collaborative and external organisations.
  • Adhere to GCP, SOPs and Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Waikato policies and procedures.

Research Nurse - Respiratory ResearchWaikato Hospital, 12 month contract 80 Hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE)

About the Role

As a Research Nurse, you will contribute to the delivery of highquality respiratory research that supports improved health outcomes for our communities. This role plays an important part in ensuring clinical studies are wellcoordinated, culturally safe, and aligned with Te Whatu Ora values and standards. You will work collaboratively with investigators, sponsors, and multidisciplinary teams to support the smooth initiation and ongoing management of clinical trials.

Key responsibilities
  • Support investigator initiated, collaborative and pharmaceutical trials, ensuring all processes required, are completed in a timely manner to commence studies.
  • Assist in the preparation of all necessary resources and documentation to efficiently enrol patients onto clinical trials as per the trial protocol
  • Contribute to relationships and liaise with collaborative and external organisations.
  • Adhere to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), the Respiratory Research Trials Unit's standard operating procedures (SOP) and Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand (Waikato) policies and procedures
About the Team/Service

Our well-established Research Department has a commitment to offering patients access to clinical trials for multiple respiratory conditions. We pride ourselves on achieving high enrolment.

About you
  • Ideally you will bring experience working in a clinical, research, or healthrelated environment, with a solid understanding of trial protocols, regulatory requirements, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • You are organised, detailfocused, and confident managing documentation, timelines, and communication across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Positive attitude and is team focused
  • Excellent time management and works well independently
  • Excellent communicator
  • Having had experience in coordination of care in their clinical practice, is desirable
  • Work inclusively with others and has a patient centric approach.
  • Previous Respiratory experience will be an advantage, but is not essential
  • Previous clinical trial experience is ideal but not essential.
