Job summary

Registered Nurse to join the Mental Health for Older People team at Tauranga Hospital. This permanent part-time role is 32 hours per week (0.8 FTE) with rosters across a 24-hour schedule, based in Tauranga.

You will provide care to tangata whai ora with dementia, psychological conditions and palliative needs, delivering person-centred support while engaging with whanau.

Qualifications

  • Current NZCN registration and Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
  • Mental Health experience and scope of practice (no restrictions).
  • 2+ years post-registration experience, ideally in Older Adult Mental Health or related areas.
  • Ability to work rostered shifts (24/7 coverage).
  • A flexible, compassionate and team based approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred care to older people with diverse and complex needs.
  • Support tangata whai ora and their whanau through personal journeys using physical, mental health and communication skills.
  • Collaborate with the Mental Health for Older People team to deliver high-quality care in Tauranga Hospital's 10-bed inpatient unit.

The 10-bed inpatient unit provides short-term assessment, care and treatment for tangata whai ora with complex mental health presentation such as dementia, psychological conditions, and palliative needs.In this rewarding role, you will support tangata whai ora and their whanau through deeply personal journeys - applying a mix of physical, mental health and communication skills.
