Job summary

Transdev Wellington is seeking motivated individuals with a strong safety focus to join the rail yard team. This hands-on role involves moving, inspecting, and preparing trains for service, supporting both EMU and KiwiRail locomotive services.

You’ll work outdoors in a safety-critical environment and be part of a dedicated team dedicated to keeping Wellington’s rail network running safely. You’ll be trained comprehensively, with a starting rate of $32.62 per hour and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• A strong commitment to safety and doing the job right every time.
• Reliable, hardworking and takes pride in their work.
• Works well as part of a team and communicates clearly with others.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in a rail yard.
• Holds a full New Zealand driver’s licence and has own transport.

Responsibilities

• Coupling and uncoupling trains and carriages in the yard.
• Brake testing and shunting operations.
• Preparing trains for service.
• Following Rail Operating Code and Rules requirements.
• Working safely in a safety-critical rail environment.
• Supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the rail network.
