Job summary

New Zealand Defence Force is seeking a Publications Editor to support RNZAF operational capability by producing, maintaining and publishing essential operational and technical documentation. Qualifications

  • Excellent written communication, proofreading and editing skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience creating, editing, publishing or managing technical, operational or business documentation, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems. Adobe InDesign is highly desirable.
  • A relevant qualification in Publishing, Communications, Information Management, Technical Writing or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant industry experience.

  • Ensure publications are accurate, current and compliant with established standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and manage publication processes from development through to release.
  • Contribute to publishing systems management and document control practices across NZ.

As a Publications Editor, you will play a key role in supporting RNZAF operational capability by producing, maintaining and publishing essential operational and technical documentation. Working within a specialist team, you will ensure publications are accurate, current and compliant with established standards, providing personnel with the information they need to safely and effectively carry out their duties. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with complex information and delivering high-quality outputs. You'll collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, manage publication processes from development through to release, and contribute to the ongoing management of publishing systems and document control practices that support RNZAF operations across New Zealand. The salary for this role ranges from $67,306 – 82,023, inclusive of a 4% superannuation contribution. Appointments within this range are based on skills and experience.
