Key Responsibilities – Project Engineer Opportunities Dunedin
  • Coordinate and oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of civil infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Interpret and implement project designs, specifications, and drawings, collaborating closely with foremen, supervisors, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Monitor daily work progress, manage timelines, and adjust resources to maintain priorities and address project challenges swiftly.
  • Conduct and document site inspections, quality checks, and testing to ensure all works meet compliance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Support procurement of materials and manage subcontractors, ensuring efficient resource allocation and adherence to project goals.
  • Prepare and maintain thorough project records, progress reports, and all required documentation for internal and client communication.
  • Champion health, safety, and environmental best practices on site, promoting a proactive and positive safety culture within the project team.
  • Forge positive relationships with clients, local authorities, and team members, ensuring crystal-clear communication and prompt issue resolution.
Skills & Experience – Civil Construction Project Engineer Roles
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in civil engineering or a similar discipline (BE, BEngTech, DE or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in project engineering, site engineering, or a related civil construction environment highly regarded.
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction processes, project management techniques, and New Zealand health & safety standards.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and quality outcomes.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills, able to work across all levels and functions.
  • Competency in relevant engineering software, project management tools, and proficiency with documentation and reporting.
  • A full New Zealand driver’s licence is essential; familiarity with local codes, NZS standards, and environmental guidelines is advantageous.
