Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora invites an experienced Programme Manager to lead Te Toka Tumai Auckland’s Financial Sustainability Programme. You will coordinate planning, implementation and monitoring to secure long-term financial health while maintaining safe, equitable patient care.

You will partner with clinical, operational and finance leaders, providing governance, performance monitoring and benefits realisation. A pivotal transformation awaits.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in health management, business, commerce, finance or related discipline.
  • Significant programme management experience within large, complex organisations.
  • Experience leading large-scale transformation, productivity or financial sustainability initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of governance, benefits realisation and performance management.
  • Experience working with financial information, business cases and executive reporting.
  • Ability to influence and lead across multiple stakeholder groups without direct authority.
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and achieving equitable health outcomes for Māori.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Te Toka Tumai Auckland’s Financial Sustainability Programme during a pivotal transformation period.
  • Plan, coordinate, implement and monitor a complex programme ensuring long-term financial sustainability.
  • Provide programme leadership, governance oversight, performance monitoring and benefits realisation support.
  • Collaborate with senior clinical, operational and finance leaders to deliver priorities.
  • Report to the Director Planning & Performance and support strategic decision-making.

About the Role

This is opportunity to lead Te Toka Tumai Auckland’s Financial Sustainability Programme during a pivotal period of healthcare transformation. Reporting to the Director Planning & Performance, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring a complex programme of work that supports long-term financial sustainability while ensuring safe, equitable and high-quality healthcare services continue to be delivered.

Working across clinical, operational and finance functions, you will provide programme leadership, governance oversight, performance monitoring and benefits realisation support for initiatives that contribute to organisational priorities and improved outcomes across the health system.

As part of the Planning & Performance Directorate, you will work closely with senior leaders across Te Toka Tumai Auckland, supporting the delivery of strategic initiatives that drive efficiency, sustainability and better outcomes for the communities we serve.

About You

You will be an experienced programme leader who thrives in a large, complex environment and can confidently build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in health management, business, commerce, finance or a related discipline
  • Significant programme management experience within large and complex organisations
  • Experience leading large-scale transformation, productivity or financial sustainability initiatives
  • Strong understanding of programme governance, benefits realisation and performance management
  • Experience working with financial information, business cases and executive reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead across multiple stakeholder groups without direct authority
  • Exceptional communication, relationship management and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and achieving equitable health outcomes for Māori
  • Experience working within Health New Zealand or the wider public health sector
  • Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement training
