Job summary

The Ministry of Social Development NZ in Christchurch seeks a Programme Coordinator. This full-time, permanent role connects MSD clients with employment-related programmes and services across regional offices and Canterbury service centres.

You will source and manage referrals from frontline Case Manager teams, outreach to place participants into programmes, organise recruitment seminars, and liaise with providers to monitor performance.

About the role | Mō te tūnga

The Programme Coordinator is a critical role that connects MSD clients with MSD’s employment-related programmes and services. Our high-performing Programme Coordinators are responsible for sourcing and managing client referrals from our frontline Case Manager teams, and through direct client outreach, to get the right people into our employment programmes.

Reporting to the Regional Contract Manager, this role involves:
  • Marketing our programme opportunities directly to clients, and to our front-line teams using a variety of approaches: via presentations, face to face, outbound calling, our online portal and internal website and flyers.
  • Managing the client referral system, monitoring referrals and troubleshooting, and connecting participants with next steps post-programme.
  • Organising and delivering recruitment seminars for programmes in MSD sites.
  • Liaising with programme providers, national office colleagues and other stakeholders, providing a high standard of relationship management.
  • Monitoring programme performance and advising the Regional Contract Manager about potential issues or opportunities for improvement.

You will help advise our Job seekers about courses and programmes which help them identify their natural potential, learn new skills, and prepare them for employment.

You will be primarily based at MSD Service Centres (location TBD) where you will interact with our own people, Providers, Community groups and other key stakeholders, providing information and support. Approximately one day per week you will be based at Regional office.

It's interesting and varied work – In addition to our Core Employment Placement Service programmes, we have a wide range of Programmes from helping people to manage their mental health, advice on personal presentation and help with clothing for interviews, along with all the support available for getting ready for work, CV and interview preparation, industry specific courses e.g. Contact Centre, Project Management, Customer Service, Construction, Hospitality etc.
