Qualifications

  • At least three years' experience in programme management, coordination or advisory roles.
  • Strong written communication skills; experience drafting official correspondence and reporting.
  • Experience supporting financial administration and reporting processes.
  • Experience working in complex programme or organisational environments.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach to work.
  • A qualification in business administration, project management or equivalent.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We're looking for a Programme Advisor, Communications & Marketing to provide programme coordination, reporting, planning and operational support across a portfolio of education and marketing initiatives that contribute to safer journeys for all New Zealanders. You'll help ensure the smooth delivery of programmes, facilitate effective governance and reporting processes, manage official correspondence, and support the team in tracking performance, financials and key deliverables.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage monthly, quarterly and annual reporting processes, including financial analysis milestone tracking and risk management.
  • Coordinate official correspondence, including responses to Official Information Act requests, parliamentary questions and other enquiries.
  • Support business planning, programme performance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead best-practice information and records management across the team.
  • Support the team with their procurement needs, including advice on best practice, procurement and contract administration, supplier onboarding and governance activities.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure programme objectives and timeframes are achieved.

You're an organised and proactive programme professional who enjoys bringing structure, coordination and continuous improvement to complex work programmes. You have excellent problem solving and communication skills, a strong eye for detail, and the ability to build effective relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • At least three years' experience in programme management, programme coordination or a similar advisory role.
  • Strong written communication skills, including experience drafting official correspondence and reporting.
  • Experience supporting financial administration and reporting processes.
  • Experience working within complex programme or organisational environments.

  • A qualification in business administration, project management or equivalent relevant experience.

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori, promote tikanga Māori and te reo Māori, and have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi as it applies in the public service.

The Communications and Marketing team are NZTA’s centre of excellence for communications, marketing, education, and brand. The team’s role is to inform New Zealanders about what we’re doing and why, and how it benefits their lives. We educate and encourage everyone to make the right choices to stay safe on our roads and we champion the NZTA strategy, protect our brand and reputation, and showcase how NZTA is delivering great outcomes for New Zealand.

Working as part of this team, you'll contribute to initiatives that support safer communities and better transport outcomes across Aotearoa. The team has four distinct programmes to deliver, as well as being accountable for all enterprise and regulatory communications.
