Job description

Most of what leaves our site will never be seen again - and that's the point. Our pipes go into the ground right across New Zealand and quietly do their job for the next hundred years. Getting it right the first time takes skill, focus, and a crew that cares about the standard of what they make.
We're after Production Technicians to join the crew at our Pokeno site. It's honest, hands-on work for someone who likes seeing a finished product at the end of the day, backs the people around them, and wants to build a real trade while they're at it.

About Hynds
Pokeno is our largest precast concrete site, and one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in the world — and that is where you come in.
About The Role
You'll report to the Production Manager and work as part of the team that turns steel and concrete into finished precast product. Mould set-up, reinforcement, casting, finishing, stripping and QC - you'll move across all of it, and no two days will look quite the same.
On Any Given Day, You'll
  • Keep everyone safe - live the basics: 5S, safe lifting and loading, tidy work areas, and speaking up the moment something looks off.
  • Build the moulds - set up formwork and moulds to the drawings, square and solid, ready to pour.
  • Cast and pour - place reinforcement cages and get concrete into the mould to spec.
  • Strip and finish - once it's cured, strip, ramp, mark and tidy the finished product to standard.
  • Check the work - run your QC, complete the paperwork properly, and sort non-conformances then and there.
  • Keep improving - bring ideas to pre-starts and toolbox talks and pick up new skills across the site as you go.
What you'll bring
  • Some hands-on or physical work behind you - precast, concrete, carpentry, steel fixing, manufacturing, labouring, warehousing, or anything similar.
  • Enough confidence with plans and drawings to follow them - or the smarts to learn fast.
  • Respect for quality standards and safe ways of working.
  • A body that's up for physical work and a head that's switched on to safety.
  • A Class 1 licence with F (forklift) endorsement helps - or the willingness to get one.
  • A gantry-crane ticket (3800) or reo experience is a nice-to-have, not a dealbreaker.
Most of all, you're someone people can rely on - you turn up, pull your weight, take pride in the job, and look out for the crew around you.
What We Offer
  • Training on the job and a genuine path to move up
  • Health insurance (subject to eligibility)
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Access to company partner discounts
At Hynds, we believe diverse teams make better decisions and stronger businesses. We're committed to an inclusive workplace where everyone is welcomed, supported and encouraged to thrive.
