Job summary

Stellar Recruitment AU and NZ is partnering with a NZ manufacture to recruit a Manufacturing-focused engineer based in Pokeno. The role aims to optimise site operations, drive precast processes, and sustain safe, high-quality production.

You will lead technical support, process improvement and project delivery while boosting productivity, cost, quality and delivery performance, and promoting a strong Health and Safety culture. Long-term progression is available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in process improvement and problem-solving.
  • Experience in a concrete manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with safety focus.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and pass a Drug & Alcohol test.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safety-first culture across the site.
  • Interpret shop drawings and NZS standards.
  • Develop SOPs for safe precast manufacture.
  • Provide technical direction on reinforcement, moulds, pours and finishing.
  • Use CAD to review/edit drawings and support manufacturing accuracy.
  • Monitor WIP, downtime, waste and rework; drive QC/QA improvements.
  • Attend pre-start checks and toolbox talks; coach team.
  • Ensure resources meet production plans and customer expectations.
  • Progress within the company toward senior management.

About the Role

We are looking for a Manufacturing-focused engineer responsible for optimising site operations, driving best-practice precast manufacturing processes, and ensuring safe, efficient, high quality production. You will be responsible for leading technical support, process improvement and project delivery while improving productivity, cost, quality and delivery performance. You will also promote a positive Health and Safety culture. Your duties will include:

  • Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture across the site
  • Interpret shop drawings and manufacturing standards (NZS3101, NZS3109, NZS4058)
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for safe and accurate precast manufacture
  • Provide technical direction to the team for reinforcement, moulds, penetrations, pours, curing, lifting and finishing
  • Use CAD to review/edit drawings and support manufacturing accuracy
  • Ensure all drawings, materials, moulds, plant and labour are ready to meet production plans and customer expectations
  • Monitor WIP, output, downtime, waste and rework
  • Drive continuous improvement in QC/QA, reporting and production systems
  • Attend pre-start checks and toolbox talks and be a regular voice for the team
  • Ensuring adequate resources are available for effective execution of the production plan
  • Coaching and developing the team members

This roster is Monday – Friday based, however at the moment Saturday mornings will also be required as the team are extremely busy! The role is based in Pokeno. The role is on a permanent basis and we are looking for somebody who wants to stay long-term and is interesting in progressing within the company. There are options for you to progress into a senior management role fairly quickly.

Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in process improvement, problem-solving and production engineering
  • Experience in a concrete manufacturing facility is preferred
  • Effective communication skills and ability to be a decision-maker
  • Good leadership and people management skills
  • Strong IT skills – you will be working on computers daily
  • Excellent understanding of Health & Safety procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • To be able to pass a Drug & Alcohol test
  • A great attitude and willingness to learn
