Job summary

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare in Auckland seeks engineers passionate about solving complex medical design challenges. You will work on Optiflow-related products, from concept through prototyping to customer delivery, embracing hands-on fabrication and cross-functional collaboration.

The role emphasizes product design, rapid prototyping, and project management, with emphasis on following medical device regulations and standards to bring innovative solutions to clinicians and patients alike.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in mechanical, mechatronics or biomedical engineering.
• Experience designing/building prototypes and conducting product testing.
• Familiarity with CNC machining, injection moulding and manufacturing methods.
• Understanding of medical device regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver products from concept to customer delivery.
• Design and build prototypes and conduct testing.
• Lead project management activities across engineering teams.

About The Role

We are looking for versatile individuals who are passionate about problem solving and have the perseverance to change clinical practice. Your excellent communication and collaboration skills will enable you to work both within the team and across various functions, to deliver products from theoretical concepts into the hands of our customers. You enjoy product design, hands on prototyping, project management and seeing a project through from start to finish.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for applicants with 2-5 7 years of experience and a qualification in either Mechanical, Mechatronics or Biomedical Engineering. You may have experience with some or all the following:

• New product development and current product development (Multiple roles available)
• Designing and building prototypes
• CNC Machining
• Injection moulding and other manufacturing methods
• Product testing and documentation
