Job summary

Alexander James is seeking an experienced procurement professional to join our client’s Procurement Services team in Invercargill. This broad role involves guiding end-to-end tenders, providing commercial advice, and managing supplier and contract relationships in line with procurement policies.

You will lead tenders, develop procurement plans, and support stakeholders across the organisation while mentoring colleagues.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' procurement experience, with strong exposure to tenders, evaluations, negotiations and contract management.
• Strong knowledge of government procurement processes, systems, policies and best practice.
• Experience developing procurement documentation and tender reports.
• Excellent analytical, written, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
• Government experience and MCIPS or related qualifications preferred.

This is a broad and commercially focused procurement role where you will work closely with stakeholders to deliver effective procurement outcomes.
You will lead and support end-to-end tender processes, provide commercial advice, and manage supplier and contract relationships in line with procurement policies and best practice.

You will be involved in:

• Leading tenders, evaluations, negotiations and contract awards.
• Developing procurement plans, business cases and procurement strategies.
• Providing commercial and procurement advice to operational leaders and stakeholders.
• Managing contract reviews, performance, risks and supplier relationships.
• Supporting and mentoring colleagues across the procurement function.
• Building strong relationships with suppliers, contractors and external stakeholders.

You will ideally have:

• 5+ years' procurement experience, with strong exposure to tenders, evaluations, negotiations and contract management.
• Strong knowledge of government procurement processes, systems, policies and best practice.
• Experience developing procurement documentation and tender reports.
• Excellent analytical, written, presentation and negotiation skills.
• The ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
• Experience within local or central government would be advantageous, as would MCIPS or other relevant professional qualifications.
