Job summary

WM New Zealand is seeking a Machine Operator to run processing equipment safely and efficiently. You will ensure quality checks, maintain machine performance, and follow safety procedures while supporting continuous improvement. Flexibility in days and hours, with a focus on teamwork in a hands-on role.

The position requires physical fitness to lift up to 10 kg, good communication, and reliability. Experience in plastics or material compounding is advantageous, and a forklift OSH certificate is

Qualifications

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Forklift OSH certificate, F endorsement or experience desirable.
• First Aid certificate or knowledge, and strong health & safety awareness.
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 10 kg across shifts.
• Flexible in working days and hours.
• Reliable and punctual with own transport.
• Experience in plastics/materials compounding is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate all processing equipment and plant safely and efficiently to achieve optimum outputs.
• Follow shift supervision, production manager or factory manager directions for duties.
• Analyse issues and optimise outcomes while upholding health and safety policies.
• Carry out quality checks and ensure paperwork is correct; escalate out-of-spec measurements.
• Monitor machine performance and process adherence to the plan.
• Label finished goods with correct descriptions for storage.
• Contribute to safety-first culture and ongoing improvement.
