Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead complex projects in New Zealand, with a track record in water or transportation infrastructure. You’ll deliver detailed designs, provide technical leadership, and mentor junior staff across multi-disciplinary teams.

Successful candidates will be CPEng Chartered, with 10+ years in consulting, and willing to travel within the South Island to support projects from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and construct project delivery methods.
  • Prepare technical reports, risk assessments and asset management plans.
  • Supervise construction activities as required and ensure timely, cost-efficient delivery.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members.

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional engineer with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects to work collaboratively with our clients and colleagues across Asia Pacific. You will have a chance to work on projects from the initial investigation right through to completion or construction. This opportunity is likely to involve some travel in the South Island.


About you:

You’ll be a CPEng Chartered structural engineer with at least 10 years’ professional experience in the consulting industry including multi-disciplinary design projects. You’ll have experience in water and/or transportation infrastructure projects, ideally including industrial/utility buildings or pump station buildings and water retention structures, or a good understanding of transportation infrastructure projects.


The role in a snapshot will encompass the following


  • Planning, management and delivery of detailed structural designs, including senior checks and reviews, across a variety of transportation and water related infrastructure projects.

  • Technical advice and leadership across the Structural Discipline

  • Project leadership including design and construct project delivery methods

  • Technical report writing, including ability to carry out structural assessments, inspections, risk assessment and asset management plans

  • Construction supervision support as required

  • Working closely with project teams and project managers to ensure timely and cost-efficient delivery

  • Mentoring and development of junior team members
