Job summary

NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) is seeking two Principal Engineers to lead the Engineering Chapter, delivering secure, scalable platforms and modern engineering practices.

You will guide AI augmented engineering, DevOps, and platform reliability across Azure-based environments, mentor engineers, and shape technology roadmaps while collaborating with Platform Leads, Product Owners, and delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in senior technical leadership roles within large-scale enterprise environments.
• Strong cloud, AI and developer platforms expertise.
• Ability to envision and drive AI-augmented engineering initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership across complex, high impact engineering challenges.
• Drive platform reliability across cloud environments.
• Significantly influence internal developer platforms and developer experience.
• Lead the evolution of AI augmented engineering by identifying, proving and scaling new approaches.
