Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership across the Consumer Policy team within MBIE.
  • Advise the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs on a broad range of consumer law and policy issues.
  • Administer key consumer legislation, including the Fair Trading Act, Consumer Guarantees Act, and Customer and Product Data Act.
  • Lead a high-profile and varied work programme with direct impact on New Zealand consumers and businesses.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a talented team working at the forefront of consumer and commercial regulation. The team advises the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs on a broad range of consumer law and policy issues and administers key consumer legislation, including the Fair Trading Act, Consumer Guarantees Act, and Customer and Product Data Act.

As Manager, Consumer Policy, you will provide strategic leadership across a high-profile and varied work programme that has a direct impact on New Zealand consumers and businesses. Current areas of work include consumer data rights, product safety, scam prevention initiatives, and wider consumer protection reforms.
