Our Platform Engineers (FinOps & Infrastructure) ensure that the Vista Cloud and VMS offering maintains the highest levels of service, security and availability for our customers. Utilizing internal systems to build, monitor, and alleviate issues in our hosted cloud environments, you will ensure seamless operational and security efficiencies, helping to establish a mature and effective security posture across Vista’s services.
About the role
FinOps Support
- Understand current scales of Containers, VM Scale Sets, VMs, DB Pools, App Services and DB’s – resizing and re-scaling as necessary.
- Delete unused assets (e.g. Web & Call Centre Base Images) and alter IaC templates to make such assets optionally configurable.
- Continue the weekly scaling of environments as necessary.
- Become responsible for RI’s and Savings Plans
- Monitor and manage orphaned Azure resources
Service and Security Operations Management
- Shape and implement systems, processes, and methodologies to ensure effective and timely monitoring of Vista’s services
- Take ownership of, and lead the response to, suspected and confirmed security incidents – feed all findings back into system design as a cycle of continuous improvement
- Proactively assist in the delivery of high-quality security outcomes for Vista’s global operations, including conducting regular reviews of our security posture
Product and Technical Support
- Remain current on all aspects of Vista Cloud technology, deployment, and operational processes
- Train internal support teams and act as the escalation point for queries related to security events, providing a resolution path for issues, whether hands-on assistance or simply direction on how to approach issue resolution
- Provide technical advice and assistance for staff across Vista on security incidents as needed
- Conduct regular reviews of work quality and throughput with the Head of Cloud Operations and other Managers (NZ and overseas), and drill down into the analysis of any problems where required to ensure consistency of approach and that standards are being maintained
- Provide advice to the Development Team on possible security remediations to software problems found by vulnerability tools
- Pro-actively work on increasing security scores and manage internal systems regarding security state / posture and maturity
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Management Office (PMO) with Statement of Work (SoW) scoping and technical reviews and provide security advice to implementation teams
- Utilize appropriate tools to log requests with the services team
- Create material for monthly reports regarding Security state/ posture and maturity

About you
- Relevant tertiary degree in business or technology (preferred)
- Azure or AWS Certification
- Knowledge and experience using FinOps tools
- Strong Server Administrator Experience MCSE / MCSA
- Strong understanding of Active Directory, Domains, DNS, DHCP
- Strong understating of IP / networking and enterprise architecture
- Strong understanding of firewalling, Security, and compliance related elements
- Knowledge of DevOps / Repo, deployment pipelines, and approval processes for IaC (infrastructure as code)
- Understanding of compliance requirements
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- illingness to learn and grow within the IaC and security space
- Experience with software design processes
- Commitment to excellent client service, including the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and customers
