Job summary

Taranaki District Health Board is seeking a Proficient Physiotherapist to deliver the Activity With Arthritis Programme (AWA). This full-time position (flexible for part-time) is based in musculoskeletal outpatient clinics and rural health facilities.

The role aims to reduce or prevent deterioration in a person’s musculoskeletal condition, improving their quality of life. You will work with Orthopaedic Triage and the Musculoskeletal Outpatient team.

Qualifications

• Current New Zealand Physiotherapy Annual Practising Certificate.
• Valid work visa for New Zealand (or NZ residency as appropriate).
• Ideally at least five years’ experience working with musculoskeletal patients.
• A passion for musculoskeletal physiotherapy and a desire to continue learning.
• Strong problem‑solving approach and excellent communication skills.
• Excellent cultural knowledge and practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment and treatment for musculoskeletal outpatient clients, including pain management and exercise programs.
• Deliver the Activity With Arthritis Programme (AWA) and related group exercise sessions.
• Collaborate with the orthopaedic triage team and musculoskeletal outpatient staff to coordinate care.
• Adapt caseload to meet clinical demand and provide varied learning opportunities.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
