Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Palmerston North Hospital peri-operative service. This permanent full-time role involves rostered duties, on-call responsibilities, and orientation to develop scrub-side skills in a supportive team.

You will collaborate with patients, whānau, and a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality care across elective and acute theatres while upholding professional standards and patient dignity.

Qualifications

• Registration as a Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate in New Zealand.
• Experience in operating theatre scrub-side is preferred.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including on-call as required.
• Commitment to culturally responsive care and safe practice.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile technique and accurate surgical counts.
• Support correct patient positioning and pressure-area care.
• Provide scrub and/or circulating theatre support for elective and acute cases.
• Demonstrate safe peri-operative nursing with multidisciplinary collaboration.
