Job summary

Nelson Hairzone NZ Ltd in Nelson is seeking two skilled Hairdressers to join our busy salon. This full-time, permanent role offers 30 hours per week with a pay range of $28-$32 per hour, depending on experience. You will work on a roster, providing professional hair services and outstanding client care.

Applicants should have at least two years of experience or a level 4+ qualification, be up-to-date with men’s grooming trends, and be punctual with a friendly approach.

Qualifications

• At least two years of experience, or level 4 or above qualification in hairdressing/barber skills/salon services/relevant field.
• Up to date with the latest trends in men’s grooming and hairstyles.
• The ability to perform hairdressing services on various different types and conditions of hair.
• A personable attitude, with the ability to make conversation with a wide number of people from a wide number of backgrounds.
• The ability to be punctual and have a good attitude is a must.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional advice on men’s and women’s hair care, grooming products, and modern hairstyles.
• Shampoo, condition, and treat hair and scalp to maintain healthy hair.
• Cut, trim, and shape men’s hair using scissors, clippers, and razors to achieve classic and contemporary styles.
• Cut, trim, and style women’s hair, including short, medium, and long hairstyles, layered cuts, bobs, and trims.
• Perform beard shaping, trimming, and traditional razor shaves for male clients.
• Style women’s hair for everyday wear and special occasions using blow-drying, curling, straightening, and other styling techniques.
• Apply hair colouring, highlighting, lowlighting, toning, balayage, and other colour techniques for men and women.
• Perform chemical hair treatments, including straightening, smoothing, and perming, as required.
• Provide hair treatments to improve hair condition, manage dryness, and address common scalp concerns.
• Consult with clients to understand their preferences and recommend suitable hairstyles, hair colours, and treatments based on their hair type and condition.
• Maintain and style men’s and women’s wigs, hairpieces, and extensions, where required.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards by sanitising tools, equipment, and workstations in accordance with salon requirements.
• Manage client bookings, provide excellent customer service, recommend suitable hair care products, and process payments.
• Maintain knowledge of current hairdressing trends, techniques, products, and styling methods for both men’s and women’s hair services.
