Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury, Christchurch, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the CHOC team on a 0.9 FTE fixed-term contract from March 2027 to March 2028. The role involves rotating shifts (Morning, Afternoon, Nights) across a busy paediatric oncology service to care for tamariki and their whanau.

Paediatric oncology experience is preferred but not essential; strong child health skills, excellent communication, and a proactive approach are valued.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current APC in New Zealand.
• Experience in Child Health and/or chemotherapy administration preferred but not essential.
• Experience with Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to paediatric oncology patients.
• Participate in rotating rosters across Morning, Afternoon and Night shifts.
• Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to support patients and families.
• Demonstrate proactive problem solving and clinical decision making.
