Job Summary

Carpenters construct, erect, install, renovate, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials. They work on residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Studying blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
• Measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling timber and other materials to construct frameworks, furniture, and structures.
• Installing fixtures, fittings, and structures such as windows, doors, stairs, and cabinets.
• Inspecting materials and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and building codes.
• Repairing or replacing damaged or worn structures, fixtures, or furniture.
• Constructing and installing frameworks for walls, ceilings, and floors.
• Assembling and installing partitions, shopfronts, and signage.
• Operating hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machines.
• Ensuring all work adheres to safety standards and regulations.
• Reading and interpreting building plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Measuring, cutting, and assembling timber and other building materials.
• Constructing, installing and repairing timber framing, walls, floors, roofs, doors and other building components.

Requirements

• At least two years of relevant experience in the industry.
• Proficiency in using carpentry tools and equipment.
• Strong understanding of building plans and specifications.
• Ability to perform precise measurements and calculations.
• Physical fitness and manual dexterity.
• Problem-solving and time management skills.
• 2+ years of relevant experience or a relevant level 4 qualification.
• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
• Excellent physical condition and ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
• At least two years of work experience as a carpenter or construction worker or similar is required.
• Relevant qualification or certificate is a bonus.
• Punctual and reliable with a positive can-do attitude will be key in this role.
• Be physically fit as the job involves heavy lifting.
• A positive and willing attitude to learn and progress.
• Able to work with deadlines and schedules, and available to work weekends if required.
• Must not have any criminal record.
