Job summary

Health New Zealand in Greymouth seeks an Oral Health Therapist to deliver dental therapy to children across Te tai o Poutini, the West Coast. Based in Greymouth with some travel, you’ll work in community and school settings, collaborating with a team of dental therapists and assistants.

You will hold an APC, may have Titanium experience, and participate in ongoing professional development to improve regional oral health services for tamariki and whānau.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Dental / Oral Health Therapist with current APC.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deliver high quality dental care to children.
  • Willingness to participate in professional development.
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality oral health care for preschool and school-age children.
  • Attend meetings, in-service training and relevant courses.
  • Participate in team meetings and service quality improvement.

Aboutthe Role

As an Oral Health Therapist,you will be providing dental therapy to our tamariki (children) on thebeautiful West Coast.

We currently have permanentopportunities working across Te tai o Poutini, the West Coast. You'll be working in community and schoolsettings with tamariki (children) and their whānau(family). You will have the opportunity towork with diverse patient groups, managing a wide variety of oral healthproblems. You will be a reflective practitioner who embraces innovation andadvances in clinical practice and will enjoy working in a team alongside otherskilled dental/oral health therapists and assistants.

Some travel across Te Tai o Poutini, the West Coast may be required.

In this role, you will beresponsible for:
  • Providing highquality oral health care appropriate to the physical, social and culturalneeds of pre-school and school age clients;
  • Attendingmeetings, in-service training and courses relevant to the needs of theservice and individual Dental/Oral Health Therapist;
  • Participatingin team meetings and the service quality improvement process.

About You

You will be a Dental / OralHealth Therapist who is enthusiastic about the care they can provide in a regional setting. You will have a current APC and ideally you will have had exposure toDental IT PMS experience e.g. Titanium, but this is not essential.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to deliver high-quality dental care to children, adhering to policies and maintaining privacy and IP&C standards
  • Strong motivation to participate in ongoing professional development
  • Excellent administrative, organisational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate across a wide range of people
  • Self motivated, flexible and adaptable in a changing Health landscape
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reoMāori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of yourlearning and growth
  • Current Registration and Annual Practising Certificate with the NZ Dental Council
