Job summary

WM New Zealand is seeking a permanent, rostered Operator at East Tamaki Transfer Station to join an onsite team delivering essential waste management services. You’ll be the face of the operation, ensuring safety, and operating key machinery as needed.

You’ll interact with customers, manage site standards, and contribute to sorting, disposal, and recycling efforts while developing your career in a vital industry.

Qualifications

• Clean NZ Full Class 1 driver's licence required.
• Wheels (W) and Tracks (T) endorsements preferred.
• Strong safety awareness for you, your team and the public.
• Able to work autonomously, but with a team-first mindset.
• Experience in waste or production line is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Site management to keep the site, buildings and roadways safe and tidy.
• Direct vehicles, assist customers with drop-offs and sorting.
• Operate onsite plant and equipment (if qualified) and perform general labouring.
• Promote efficient sorting, collection and disposal of waste and recyclables.

About the Role

No two days are the same! You'll be the face of our operation, interacting with customers, keeping the site safe, and operating key machinery.

In this varied role, you will be:

• Site Management: Ensuring the site, buildings, and roadways are safe, neat, and professional.
• Customer & Traffic Control: Directing vehicles, assisting customers with their drop-offs, and ensuring everyone understands the correct sorting process.
• Operations & Labouring: Operating onsite plant and equipment (if qualified/required) and being ready to pitch in with general labouring tasks, we all contribute!
• Environmental Champion: Playing a key role in sorting, collecting, and disposing of waste and recyclables efficiently and responsibly.

Qualifications

• Clean NZ Full Class 1 driver's licence is a must

• Strong focus on safety awareness. (for yourself, your team, and the public)
• The ability to work autonomously when needed, but with a team-first mentality.
• Bonus:Experience in the waste industry or production line work is a plus, but not essential if you have the right attitude!
