Job summary

Higgins Green Team is seeking an experienced Asphalt Maintenance Operator to join our crew at the Port of Tauranga. This hands-on role covers pothole repairs, mill and fill work, paving operations, and general road maintenance with operators working alongside the crew.

You will be involved in asphalt repairs, milling support, and safe operation of plant and equipment, delivering quality work in a fast-paced port setting.

Qualifications

• Class 2 Driver Licence and WTR endorsements required.
• Asphalt/paving experience and civil construction background preferred.
• Strong practical labouring skills and focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Asphalt repairs and pothole work, including hand-laid tasks.
• Support milling and paving operations on site.
• Operate plant and equipment as required.
• Carry out general civil and asphalt maintenance tasks.
• Work safely within a live port environment and team setting.
• Deliver high-quality workmanship as part of a small team.

Higgins Green Team is looking for an experienced Asphalt Maintenance Operator to join our team working within the Port of Tauranga environment.

This is a hands‑on role where you'll be involved in a variety of asphalt maintenance activities, including pothole repairs, mill and fill works, paving operations, and general road maintenance. We're looking for someone who is equally comfortable operating plant and getting stuck in alongside the crew.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Asphalt repairs, pothole repairs, and hand‑laid asphalt work
• Supporting milling and paving operations
• Operating plant and equipment as required
• General civil and asphalt maintenance activities
• Working safely within an active operational port environment
• Delivering quality workmanship as part of a small, high‑performing team

Essential

What you bring

• Class 2 Driver Licence
• WTR endorsements
• Civil construction experience
• Asphalt or paving experience
• Strong practical and labouring skills
• Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork

Preferred

• Class 4 or 5 Licence
• Experience operating rollers, skid steers, loaders, excavators, tipper trucks, or pavers
• Experience working around milling and paving operations
• Traffic management experience or STMS qualification
• Experience operating paving equipment, including screed functions
