Job description
Operations Manager - Redvale Landfill and Energy Park
  • Full-time

WM New Zealand is New Zealand's leading resource recovery, recycling, and waste management provider. We’re committed to safeguarding our beautiful environment through sustainable management of our valuable resources. Put simply, sustainability is what we do.

WM New Zealand has an outstanding opportunity for a high-performing, commercially focused Branch Manager to lead operations at the Redvale Landfill.

Based on site in Dairy Flat, this role oversees a team of around 30 employees and multiple contractors. The position reports to the Redvale Regional Manager and is strongly supported by both regional leadership and our corporate services team.

This role is responsible for the operational and financial performance of one of our critical business units. Key areas include driving a strong safety culture, ensuring full environmental and consent compliance, managing operational staff and plant maintenance, achieving financial targets, and maintaining strong relationships with our large customer base.

We are seeking someone with an excellent health and safety track record and proven operational leadership, capable of maintaining a safe, efficient, and high-performing workplace. Ideally, you will bring experience managing large civil works with a strong focus on environmental and consent compliance.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Strong personal values – honesty, integrity, ownership, and accountability
  • Civil engineering and/or environmental management qualifications and experience
  • A solid background in consent management and regulatory compliance
  • Experience leading small to medium operational teams and contractors
  • Proven capability in managing community relationships and confidently representing WM in public, stakeholder, and regulatory settings
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to interpret and influence P&L performance with a strategic and growth focus

This role offers a rare opportunity to bring your leadership style, take full ownership of day-to-day operations, and work with an experienced and supportive team. While you will have a high degree of autonomy, you’ll also be part of our collaborative North Island leadership group, working alongside other regional managers and senior leaders across the business.
