Job summary

Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Nurse Educator for the Tumanako Inpatient Unit and He Manu Pae Sub-Acute Unit at Whangārei Hospital. The role focuses on leading clinical education, workforce development and improving patient outcomes across mental health services.

You will mentor staff, support onboarding, promote evidence-based practice and drive quality improvement in collaboration with nursing leadership. A postgraduate nursing qualification and current NZ Registration are required.

Qualifications

Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current practising certificate.
PDRP at Designated Senior Nurse level (or equivalent).
A postgraduate diploma or equivalent advanced nursing qualification.
A minimum of 3 years experience within mental health nursing.
Strong coaching, mentoring and relationship-building skills with experience supporting staff development and clinical learning.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership in clinical education across inpatient mental health units.
Design, coordinate and deliver education programmes for staff.
Support orientation and onboarding of new staff.
Mentor staff and facilitate professional development.
Promote evidence-based practice and lead quality improvement initiatives.
Collaborate across Mental Health and Addiction Services to strengthen workforce development.
