Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Nurse Educator for the ICU/HDU based in Tauranga. This fixed-term (12 months), full-time role partners with another nurse educator to deliver the practice development programme for ICU and HDU nurses.

You will be a registered nurse with significant critical care experience, a background in nursing education, and a minimum Proficient PDRP. A Postgraduate Diploma (or current enrolment) is required.

Qualifications

  • Must be a registered nurse with significant critical care nursing experience.
  • Experience in educator/adult teaching roles or RN coaching is desirable.
  • Travel between District Hospitals may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the ICU/HDU practice development programme for registered nurses.
  • Deliver contemporary nursing training and education using education principles and evidence-based practice.
  • Contribute to wider organisational learning within the Workforce Development and Learning service.

About the Role

We welcome applications from registered nurses who have significant experience in critical nursing, have a nursing education background, and a passion for supporting the practice development of nurses.

As Nurse Educator, you will work in partnership with another nurse educator to facilitate the practice development programme for registered nurses within the ICU/HDU and contribute to wider organisational learning.

This is an exciting opportunity to utilise your knowledge of education principles and evidence-based nursing practice to deliver contemporary nursing training and education.

About the Team/Service/ Location

While based within the ICU/HDU team, nurse educators are part of the practice development team, and have access to other experienced colleagues within the Workforce Development and Learning service

About you

As a Nurse Educator you will be a registered nurse who has achieved a minimum of Proficient PDRP level and has worked in critical care nursing specialty for greater than 5 years of clinical experience.

  • Minimum of Proficient level PDRP
  • Postgraduate Diploma or currently enrolled on the pathway
  • Experience may include Educator/adult teaching role, Preceptorship, RN Coach
  • Able to travel by car as required between District Hospitals.
