Job summary

Egis is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to shape and grow our engineering presence across Northland, NZ. You will influence national and international projects, drive regional expansion, and lead multidisciplinary teams alongside local councils and public/private clients.

In this commercially minded role you will develop opportunities, win meaningful projects, mentor engineers, and ensure quality across feasibility to construction.

Qualifications

• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or eligibility.
• Significant civil engineering consulting experience in New Zealand.
• Strong track record of client relationships and securing new work.
• Experience delivering community infrastructure and local government projects.
• Commercial awareness including contract management and risk management.
• Ability to review technical deliverables and mentor others.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Collaborative, team-oriented approach to delivering outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Grow Egis' presence across Northland by fostering and expanding existing client relationships and identifying new opportunities.
• Lead business development activities, including proposals, fee estimates, offers of service and work-winning initiatives.
• Build trusted partnerships with local government, public sector and private sector clients.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility and design through to construction administration and certification.
• Lead and support the delivery of community infrastructure projects including parks, reserves, sports fields, shared paths, community facilities, local road improvements and industrial heavy civil.
• Review technical deliverables, provide quality assurance and mentor engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Collaborate with planners, landscape architects, transport specialists and project managers to deliver integrated client solutions.
