Job summary

The Ministry of Education New Zealand is seeking a Network Analyst to analyse data, network trends and achievement information to support regional programmes. This permanent, full-time role can be based in Rotorua or Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, offering a balanced lifestyle in one of New Zealand’s dynamic outdoor regions.

You will provide information, guidance and analytical support to internal staff, respond to requests for information and prepare written communications, working papers, reports

Qualifications

  • Recent experience collecting, collating and analysing data.
  • Ability to identify trends and inform organisational decisions.
  • Strong written, numerical and IT skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation.
  • Collaborative, able to work across integrated teams with stakeholders.
  • Understanding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga.
  • Full, current driver licence for regional travel.

Do you have a passion for working with data and an interest in growing your data extraction, reporting and analysis skills?

The Network Analyst role supports the work of the Ministry of Education’s regional teams by analysing and interpreting data, network trends and achievement information to inform and support internal and external work programmes.

The Network Analyst provides information, guidance and analytical support to relevant internal staff to support their work with the education sector including responding to requests for information and preparing written communications, working papers, reports and presentations.

This is a permanent, full-time position that can be based at either our Rotorua or Tauranga office, offering a fantastic lifestyle and work-life balance opportunity in one of New Zealand’s stunning and diverse outdoor regions.

Applicants who live in the surrounding Bay of Plenty areas and are willing to commute may also be interested in this role.

Salary range: $74,815 - $90,347 per annum plus KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
  • recent, relevant experience in collecting, collating and analysing data and information
  • a proven ability in using data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities, and to influence and guide organisational and system-level decision making
  • strong written communication, numerical, statistical and information technology skills
  • exceptional time management and work prioritisation skills
  • excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across integrated teams
  • the ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga
  • a full, current driver licence as travel within the region may be required
  • the ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake

The Operations and Insights team is part of Te Mahau | Education Services, a frontline group that collectively provides leadership and integrated services, working with education providers, children and their whānau/families across the Bay of Plenty-Waiariki region. This includes services such as learning support, education advice and regulation functions for schools, kura, kōhanga and early learning services, and advice and support with curriculum.

We develop and harness relationships with communities at the regional and local level, including deep relationships with iwi and hapū. We also collectively strengthen relationships with our diverse communities who support Māori, Pacific peoples, disabled ākonga and/or ākonga with learning support needs, and ākonga from disadvantaged backgrounds.

From within Te Mahau, you will work closely and collaboratively across different groups within the Ministry of Education, including infrastructure management and property delivery teams.
