Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Whangārei is seeking a Health Care Assistant for the Neonatal Unit in Child Health. The role supports RN or Midwife, assists with Milk Bank, room setup, stock, meals, and patient transport within a 10-cot Neo unit.

Working 0.7FTE (28.5 hours/week) on rostered shifts, you will help create a safe, organized environment and contribute to high-quality neonatal care. Training and NZQA Level 3 development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication with patients, families and staff.
• Empathetic and able to manage time effectively.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient rooms and restock supplies.
• Deliver patient meals and transport to radiology.
• Maintain a safe, organized environment in the Neonatal Unit.
• Assist under RN or Midwife guidance, including Milk Bank tasks.
• Support follow-up with community teams after discharge if needed.
