Job summary

PROPER DEVANNING GROUP in Auckland is seeking an experienced Container Devanning Specialist with MPI AP accreditation to join our team. The role focuses on safe unloading, cargo handling and MPI/compliance across devanning and warehouse operations.

The successful candidate will demonstrate hands-on devanning expertise, strong biosecurity awareness and the ability to follow SOPs while maintaining records and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Current MPI Accredited Person (AP) accreditation/authorisation relevant to the role.
• Proven experience in container devanning, warehouse operations or a similar logistics/distribution role.
• Sound understanding of MPI biosecurity requirements and import container processes.
• Experience identifying and reporting biosecurity risks, contamination and irregularities.

Responsibilities

• Safely unload and devan import containers using appropriate equipment and techniques.
• Act as an MPI Accredited Person (AP) for applicable biosecurity-related activities and ensure MPI requirements are followed.
• Review relevant container documentation and identify MPI/BACC requirements before commencing devanning.
• Inspect containers and cargo for damage, contamination, pests, soil, plant material or other biosecurity risks.
• Immediately identify and report any biosecurity concerns, discrepancies or irregularities to the appropriate supervisor/client/MPI contact.
• Organise and sort devanned goods according to client specifications and warehouse procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of container contents, cargo condition, discrepancies and relevant biosecurity observations.
• Ensure all devanning activities are carried out in accordance with approved SOPs and site requirements.
• Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and other warehouse machinery safely and efficiently.
• Stack and store goods in designated warehouse locations in accordance with inventory management requirements.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, supervisors, clients and relevant biosecurity personnel regarding cargo status and issues.
• Assist in identifying and reporting discrepancies between shipping documentation and actual cargo.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised devanning and warehouse environment.
• Follow all company, client, MPI and health & safety requirements at all times.
