Job summary

Talentmax Recruitment is seeking a skilled hairdresser for our Auckland studio. The role offers 30–45 hours per week with an hourly rate of $27–$34, depending on skills and experience.

You will perform cutting, styling, colouring, and chemical services while advising clients on hair care and suitable looks. Applicants should have at least two years of verifiable experience, weekend availability, and strong knowledge of health, safety and hygiene regulations.

Qualifications

• Two years of verifiable hairdressing experience.
• Willing to work extended/flexible hours, including weekends.
• Up-to-date knowledge of current hairdressing trends and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform full range of hairdressing services (cutting, styling, colouring, straightening, perms).
• Advise clients on hair care routines and products; suggest suitable hairstyles.
• Wash hair and apply conditioning treatments; perform chemical processes (colouring, straightening, perms).
• Cut, shape, and style hair; create braids, extensions; maintain hygiene and sanitise tools.

Job Description

• Performs a full range of hairdressing services, including cutting, styling, colouring, straightening, permanent waving, and treating hair and scalp conditions.
• Advises clients on appropriate hair care routines, beauty products, and suitable hairstyles.
• Washes hair and applies scalp conditioning treatments.
• Applies chemical solutions for hair colouring, straightening, and permanent waving.
• Cuts and shapes hair using scissors, clippers, and razors.
• Creates specialised styles such as braids and dreadlocks, and fits hair extensions.
• Maintains a clean and hygienic work environment by sanitising tools and workstations.
• Manages client appointments and keeps effective communication with clients.

Requirements

• A minimum of two years of relevant, verifiable work experience.
• Can work extended or flexible hours when required.
• Can work during the weekend.
• Up-to-date knowledge of current hairdressing and barbering trends, and a wide range of hairdressing techniques and styles.
• Sound understanding of different hair and skin types and their reactions to chemical treatments, including colouring products.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
• A clean criminal record.
