Description

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora are seeking Medical Oncologists from the United Kingdom and Ireland to join multidisciplinary public cancer services across New Zealand. Deliver high-quality systemic cancer care within hospital-based teams and work in a collaborative, patient-centred public health system.

About the opportunity

Medical Oncologists with Health New Zealand provide systemic cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies. You will participate in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and multidisciplinary tumour boards, and contribute to service planning, clinical governance and research activity where available.

Salary and benefits

• Base salary of NZD $185 380 – $267 980 GBP £81 400 – £117 680 (based on the ASMS collective agreement, dependent on experience)
• On-call and availability allowances where applicable
• Reimbursement of MCNZ registration and Annual Practising Certificate costs
• Funded Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance of NZD $16 000 GBP £7 020 and 10 days of CME leave per year (pro-rata)
• 6 weeks of annual leave and 12 paid public holidays
• Long service, special leave, and sabbatical entitlements
• Up to 14 weeks paid parental leave

What you need to work here

You will need registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) and an Annual Practising Certificate (APC).

International Medical Oncologists will typically hold a qualification comparable to the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).

If you hold a recognised UK or Irish primary medical qualification, you are likely eligible for MCNZ registration via the Competent Authority pathway.
