Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Expert (AI Training) to shape how AI understands engineering problems, applying graduate-level knowledge in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics and beyond, all on a fully flexible, remote schedule.

You will design complex problems, author precise, step-by-step solutions for AI benchmarks, and audit AI outputs for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with ASME/ISO standards.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Expertise in solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM or manufacturing processes.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts in writing.
• Very detail-oriented with derivations, unit conversions and constraints.
• No prior AI experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design complex engineering problems spanning FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, fluid dynamics and materials.
• Author ground-truth solutions for AI learning benchmarks.

What You'll Do

• Design Complex Engineering Problems — Craft advanced, multi-domain problems spanning FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, fluid dynamics, and material science that rigorously challenge AI reasoning
• Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation
• Audit AI-Generated Content — Review and evaluate AI outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO)
• Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical flaws such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or unit errors, and provide structured feedback to improve model performance

Who You Are

• Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
• Strong foundational expertise in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
• Able to communicate complex physical concepts and mathematical reasoning clearly in written form
• Highly detail-oriented when reviewing derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
• No prior AI experience required — if you know engineering, we'll handle the rest

Nice to Have

• Experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or technical writing
• Proficiency in engineering software such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, or MATLAB
• Familiarity with AI or language model evaluation workflows
