Inition is an innovation engineering company pursuing bold, real-world solutions from idea to prototyping and testing. We’re growing and seek multiple Mechanical Engineers to join our Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland teams, with roles on permanent or fixed-term basis.

You’ll own mechanical design on live projects, tackle undefined problems, and collaborate with engineers, designers, technicians and clients, communicating clearly and mentoring where possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical or Mechatronics.
• Experience owning engineering work on real projects, post-graduate level.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and engineering calculations to standards.
• Curiosity and ability to work through problems with no clear precedent.
• Bonus: FEA, Python, AS 3533, or CPEng.
• Experience leading or mentoring others is nice to have but not required.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design work on real projects, from concept to build and test.
• Tackle ill-defined problems with proactive decision-making.
• Make and justify decisions early, raising risky ones as needed.
• Check work before release and help others do the same.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, technicians, and clients, and explain thinking clearly.
• Share knowledge and give/receive constructive feedback.
