Job description

At Vessev, we’re defining a new category of marine transport: hydrofoiling electric vessels that are genuinely better for people and the planet. Our boats fly above the surface using advanced hydrofoils, control systems, and electric propulsion, designed and built here in Aotearoa.

Behind every launch, first flight, and customer conversation is a story worth telling and we’re looking for a Marketing Intern to help us share ours. Working alongside our marketing team, you’ll get involved in a bit of everything, from content and social to our website, events, and wherever else you can add value. This is a full-time, fixed-term position: 400 hours, paid at $30 per hour.

The role

You’ll get hands-on across almost every corner of marketing, from shooting content on the water to updating our website and helping celebrate wins across the team.

  • Create content, capturing photos and video of our vessels, production, testing, and team activities, and editing it for LinkedIn, Instagram, and other digital channels.
  • Support our social channels, helping plan and schedule posts, monitor engagement, and respond to comments from our community.
  • Research and generate ideas, keeping an eye on industry trends and competitor activity, and bringing fresh content ideas to the table.
  • Keeping our website up to date, uploading blogs, news articles, and imagery, checking pages for accuracy and consistency, and supporting SEO improvements.
  • Help with internal marketing, photographing company events, helping celebrate milestones and achievements, and producing presentation material for leadership.
What you’ll learn
  • Gain real-world experience in startup marketing, seeing how a category-defining company builds its brand from the ground up.
  • Build practical skills in content creation, social media and digital marketing.
  • Get exposure to brand development and product marketing, learning how to tell the story of world-leading technology to audiences around the globe.
  • Work alongside engineering and commercial teams, seeing how marketing connects with the people designing, building, and selling our vessels.
  • Leave with a portfolio you’re proud of, full of real campaigns and content that has made an impact.
About you

You don’t need to be a marine or tech expert. What matters most is creativity, curiosity, and a willingness to get stuck in. You’re hard-working, creative and happy to roll up your sleeves and wear all the hats.

We’re looking for someone with
  • Working towards (or recently completed) a degree in Marketing, Communications, Design, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail.
  • A creative mindset and a good eye for what makes content stand out.
  • Confidence with new technology and the ability to understand how things work
Bonus experience
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Photography, videography, or basic video editing skills.
  • Experience managing social media, ideally for a brand or organisation.
  • Copywriting or graphic design skills.
  • Experience using a website CMS.
  • An interest in clean technology, marine innovation, or sustainability.
About us

We’re here to set a better world in motion: cleaner air, better commutes, and deeper connections with nature and each other. Our hydrofoiling electric vessels use up to 90% less energy than traditional boats, unlocking entirely new opportunities.

We’re backed by top-tier investors including Blackbird Ventures, and our team includes talent from the America’s Cup, SpaceX, Rocket Lab, Halter, Apple, and leading climate startups. But titles don’t matter here. What matters is how we show up: with purpose, humility, and a restless optimism for what’s possible.

We’re office-first but not office-only. We believe in building together, in person, where the real magic happens. That said, we trust our team to do what’s right and we know life isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Why our people love Vessev
  • We’re building something different, from how we move on the water to the kind of team and workplace we’re creating.
  • The chance to work on technology that can drive real, lasting impact in the world.
  • A team of hugely talented and collaborative people.
  • Competitive salaries that reflect the value of the work.
  • Being on the water is part of our job, from trips on our vessels to our offices that border the Tamaki River.
  • And if the water’s where you want to be, you’ll be in good company. You’ll find no shortage of boaters, beach goers, sailors, foilers, surfers, and kiteboarders here.

Research shows that women and other under-represented groups often only apply when they meet every requirement, even though they could be an excellent fit. If you see yourself doing great work here, but don’t tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you. We’re building a team where everyone has the chance to do their best work.
