Job summary

Babcock Australasia in Auckland is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician – Surveyor to join the Survey team in Devonport. This hands-on engineering role supports marine operations by inspecting, testing, and surveying naval vessels and assets.

You will work with experienced survey leaders to manage data, ensure QA/QC compliance, and contribute to safe, robust engineering outcomes in defence programmes.

Qualifications

• Trade or technical qualification in mechanical/fabrication engineering.
• General survey or engineering certification.
• NDT certification (desirable).
• Welding inspection certification (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections, tests, and surveys of naval vessels and assets.
• Assess material condition, identify risks, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage survey data and contribute to QA/QC standards and reporting.
