At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. Just a group of cattle walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic. Our customers are revolutionizing grazing with Halter. It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. We’re committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn’t easy, and in truth, we love that it’s hard.
We're backed to deliver on a mission that matters by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck and Icehouse ventures.
Every Halter farm runs on its digital map. Using drone or satellite imagery, we map all the infrastructure that matters: fences, gates, troughs and the cowshed. From there we know where every paddock and laneway sits, so we can build a digital version of the whole farm. The system uses that map to fence and shift cattle, so the more accurately it matches the real farm, the more accurately animals get guided.
With over 1,000,000 collars deployed across hundreds of farms and ranches, the edits to these maps never stop. Farmers are always changing infrastructure on the ground, and there's the odd thing that got missed in the initial mapping too. Farmers reach out through our in-app chat asking for their farm map to be updated. That might mean moving a fenceline they've shifted, repositioning troughs and gates, or adding new infrastructure like a feedpad or barn. Your job is to action those edits accurately so the map keeps matching the real farm.
You’ll work closely with the support team, keeping them up to date on progress so they can keep farmers informed. Sometimes you'll jump on a call with a farmer directly to work through an edit, and you'll lean on support to chase up more information from farmers when you need it.
You’ll spend most of your days on the R&D farm near Morrinsville. We turned the old calf barn into an office with prime views of our farm. Once or twice a fortnight you'll head up to our HQ in Auckland to work alongside our support team and you'll partner closely with our guidance engineering team so you understand the product at its core, which means you make the right calls when actioning edits.
Halter is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace — a place where we can each be ourselves and do the best work of our lives.
