AucklanTe Kaunihera is offering an exciting opportunity for a passionate and strategic leader to take on the role of Māori Outcomes Lead within the Group Finance directorate. In this pivotal position, you will lead the delivery of Māori outcomes, ensuring alignment with the Kia Ora Tāmaki Makaurau framework and Māori wellbeing priorities. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership teams across the Council Group to drive initiatives that foster Māori success and ensure Māori communities thrive across Tāmaki Makaurau. This is a unique opportunity to influence meaningful change and play a key role in shaping strategic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic advice and support to the Group Chief Financial Officer, General Managers for Group Finance, Ngā Mātārae, and their respective leadership teams, ensuring the effective integration of Māori outcomes within all key initiatives.
  • Influence and guide directorate initiatives, ensuring they align with Māori priorities.
  • Support the organisation to deliver key processes such as the Long-term Plan and the Annual Plan.
  • Support General Managers to develop and deliver their Achieving Māori Outcomes plans.
  • Collaborate with Ngā Mātārae on organisation-wide Māori outcomes projects and programmes, ensuring coherence and strategic alignment across all initiatives.

You are a proven leader with extensive experience in complex, cross-sectoral environments. With a deep understanding of Māori governance principles, te ao Māori, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, you have a strong track record of managing multi-faceted, high-impact projects within the public sector. Your ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, coupled with your skill in navigating complex political landscapes, enables you to drive successful Māori outcomes. You possess exceptional project management and planning skills, along with a strategic mindset and the resilience needed to deliver results effectively. Expertise in finance and accounting is not required, though it would be an advantageous asset.

Experience working with large property portfolio organisations would be beneficial, particularly where this has included developing strong partnerships and engagement with iwi and mana whenua.You have strong commercial acumen and can work strategically to influence key decision-makers, fostering partnerships that deliver mutually beneficial outcomes for Māori and Auckland Council.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a leadership team dedicated to advancing Māori outcomes within Auckland Council through Ngā Mātārae, as well as being part of the leadership team for Group Finance. You’ll be part of a collaborative and innovative environment where you can bring your ideas to the forefront. This role allows you to influence high-level strategic decisions, driving meaningful change and shaping the future of Māori wellbeing across Tāmaki Makaurau.
