Job summary

Te Kura o Waihārara invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term Māori immersion teacher to cover parental leave from February 2027 to August 2027. You will teach across Years 1–8, delivering te reo Māori immersion, supporting foundational literacy and pāngarau, and engaging students in hands-on, culturally responsive learning.

Applicants must be registered teachers with a current practising certificate and a commitment to inclusive, te reo Māori‑led learning in a kura tuatahi/mātauranga

Qualifications

Registered teacher with current practising certificate.
Confidence teaching through te reo Māori, foundational literacy and pāngarau.
Commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive, hands-on learning.
Willingness to support reo development in immersion settings.

Responsibilities

Teach Māori immersion across years 1–8 in a full-time capacity.
Support foundational literacy and pāngarau through te reo Māori.
Foster culturally responsive, inclusive, hands-on learning environments.
Engage with families and communities to support student progress.
